The Open Property Data Association (OPDA) has launched an accreditation programme for members, in what it calls ‘a key milestone’ in its drive to achieve greater data transparency, consistency and accessibility across the UK’s property industry.
Accreditation will demonstrate OPDA members’ commitment to improving how property data is shared and used, the independent trade body says. The ‘quality mark’ will be awarded to members who formally self-certify alignment with OPDA’s principles, which include the promotion of open standards, ethical data use and a shared vision for a more efficient and connected ‘property ecosystem’.
Chair of OPDA Maria Harris explained:
“By introducing this accreditation, we’re giving organisations a way to demonstrate their leadership in transforming the future of property data. It’s a mark of quality and intent and it’s one more step in our journey to a more open, collaborative industry.”
The accreditation is the latest move in OPDA’s drive to create ‘a digital, efficient and trusted home moving sector’. Developing open data and technology standards is ‘essential for making informed decisions about property’, the association says, ‘whether you’re a buyer, seller, lender, intermediary, surveyor, or conveyancer’.
Members will be guided through the accreditation process with a series of webinars and support sessions covering how to apply, the criteria involved and the benefits of being officially recognised by the scheme.
