The Conveyancing Foundation thanks SLC conference for championing wellbeing in the industry

The Conveyancing Foundation was thrilled to be this year’s Charity Partner at the Society of Licensed Conveyancers (SLC) Conference 2024.

This partnership offered a opportunity to promote the importance of wellbeing across the conveyancing sector, with industry professionals showing a shared commitment to building a more compassionate and resilient workplace for all.

Elizabeth Rimmer, CEO of LawCare and Ambassador for the Conveyancing Foundation, spoke passionately about the need for proactive well-being support in the conveyancing industry. She highlighted the unique challenges conveyancers face daily—stress, isolation, and the risk of burnout.

She revealed that 50% of senior managers in law practices have yet to receive any mental health training, leaving them ill-prepared to support their teams effectively. LawCare, a charity dedicated to promoting mental health in the legal community, offers free, confidential support, information, and resources to help tackle these challenges. Conveyancers and legal professionals can access LawCare’s services by calling 0800 279 6888 or visiting lawcare.org.uk.

Additionally, Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) Grants from the Conveyancing Foundation are available to support in-house training for mental health first aiders, aiming to foster a healthier, more supportive and pro-active environment for all team members. Jess Smith, COO and Trustee of the Conveyancing Foundation, said:

“Wellbeing is about supporting each other, being kind and strengthening our wider community. The Foundation is here to stand alongside anyone in the industry who wants to make a positive change. Together, a culture that prioritises mental health and charitable causes can be built, and we are proud to support those who are helping lead the way.”

What’s more, since 2023, the Charity Grant Scheme has been awarding £2,000 grants to help fundraisers make an even bigger difference for causes close to their hearts. The Conveyancing Foundation invites anyone planning a charitable event to apply and take their fundraising to the next level with a little extra support. With the generosity of our Charity Partners, we’re excited to keep building a culture of care and compassion across the conveyancing industry.
