Property logbooks from Chimni to be integrated with Elan search software platform

Digital property logbooks from Chimni will be integrated with the search software company Elan, in a deal which will see the logbooks sold through the specialist conveyancing platform.

Chimni’s digital property logbooks are used by conveyancers, developers and housebuilders to help homeowners manage the increasing amounts of data within a home. The company has pioneered the idea that the data should be viewed as part of the asset, with the homeowner having full access to and control of the data.

The logbooks bring together all essential information about a property into one secure digital record, including deeds and ownership records, local authority services, maintenance schedules, guarantees and warranties and insurance records. They  can also store information about renovations and decorations, operating manuals for integrated fixtures, fittings and white goods, and links to local organisations.

Elan’s software platform offers user a comprehensive suite of conveyancing, due diligence and legal indemnity products. Integrating the Chimni Logbook within the e-commerce platform means conveyancers will be able to easily access and purchase the product.

Elan’s co-founder Ryan Hobson commented:

We introduced Logbooks to our product line after several requests from our clients – many of our users already sell data products to conveyancers, so it really felt like a natural next step.  Logbooks are already being sold to home buyers through conveyancers, these can go alongside the usual search products as part of a range of disbursements. Integration into Elan’s technology just brings everything together – a valuable product to add to an order or product pack.”

Nigel Walley of Chimni added:

It always seemed sensible for search companies to be strategic partners for Logbooks.  They are already compiling packs of data for property transactions. To use this data as the core of a new Logbook is completely logical.

The first search company to take up the new integration is Property Searches North East (PSNE) whose CEO Michell Poller said:

“As a search provider, we view ourselves as a key data partner for our clients.  Its our role to continually innovate on their behalf, and to bring new data products and services to market as they become available”

Chimni was a founding member of BIM4Housing (Better Information Management) in 2014 and a founder member of the Residential Logbook Association (RLBA). The company is active in establishing data standards for digital property transactions and retrofit.
