New Study Reveals 60% Don’t Know What Conveyancing Is

A new study by the HomeOwners Alliance reveals that 60% of UK adults don’t know what conveyancing is. Almost 50% of homeowners, who would have most likely used the help of a conveyancer, still aren’t aware of what their role is.

Conveyancing is arguably the most important part of the moving house process, so its vital awareness of the service is improved. Out of the 2,000 people surveyed, 40% believed a property survey is the responsibility of the conveyancer.

Consumers must be aware of the essential services they’ll need so they can enter the process confident in terms of what they’re paying for, who to use and what they’ll be receiving.

As part of National Conveyancing Week which took place between the 11th and 15th of March, Rob Hailstone and David Opie set out to raise awareness of the home moving process.

Hailstone commented, “…there does remain a knowledge gap particularly in terms of who the conveyancer is representing, what services they are providing, and indeed how consumers access the services of specialist conveyancers in the first place.”

The British Conveyancing Awards were held on the 12th of March to further highlight the best conveyancers and solicitors in a range of categories to help raise awareness. We were proud to sponsor and award the winner of the category ‘Consultant Solicitor of the Year’ to Louise James from Taylor Rose MW. It was also great to see the importance placed on digital platforms to solidify the conveyancing process.

Additionally, Compare My Move’s Paid Media and SEO marketing teams work hard to target people needing a conveyancer. We tap into the terms and questions the UK public are looking for that will lead them to your services. This covers local and national searches for conveyancing terms as well as very specific questions from people who may not know they need a conveyancer.
