It has now been several weeks since the Law Society confirmed its view that solicitors have an overall duty to advise on climate legal risks in transactions.
The guidance’s initial reception from many conveyancers was frosty, as was expected following the discourse around the issue over the last year.
Indeed, a survey around the time of the guidance’s release found four in five conveyancers would exclude climate issues from their retainer if possible to do so.
However, with the dust now having settled following the release of the guidance, Today’s Conveyancer is undertaking a balanced assessment of conveyancers’ and firms’ views.
As such, please answer the below question and leave your comments below. The answers – which will remain anonymous – will inform an upcoming episode of the Today’s Conveyancer Podcast in which coalface conveyancers and Groundsure will share their views and discuss the way forward.
