Conveyancing charity hits £1m milestone

The Conveyancing Foundation has announced it has raised over £1m for causes up and down the country and has paid tribute to “the individuals, volunteers, and organisations that have played a pivotal role in reaching this remarkable achievement.”

Since its inception in 2010 the charity has been raising funds through events, industry challenges and the the support of conveyancers up and down the country.

One of the most popular initiatives is the Charity Lotto; a client donation of £10 at the end of the transaction for a chance to win the monthly prize draw of £500. Nearly 80% of clients take part in the Lotto, with the participating Conveyancing Legal Practice choosing which charity they would like their Lotto donations to be paid to.

Commenting on the milestone Conveyancing Foundation Chairman Lloyd Davies said:

“This collective charity fundraising effort is amazing and it is truly heartwarming to see how our conveyancing community has come together to achieve this fantastic charity fundraising milestone. The impact of our collective contributions to various charitable causes is immeasurable and reflects the goodwill that defines the conveyancing profession.

“The Charity Lotto is a highly effective way for Legal Practices and others in the industry to engage with easily to raise significant funds for their chosen charities. Over the years, the following Conveyancing Legal Practice Lotto Members – Wilson Nesbitt, Direction Law, BTMK, Sam Hawking Solicitors and Convey Law – have raised an incredible £707,235.00 for their chosen charities through the Charity Lotto.

“The industry fundraising challenges have been epic over the years, from the Matterhorn Challenge in 2015 to the most recent Earthquake Appeal this year, collectively the conveyancing industry raised hundreds of thousands of pounds for charity. Thank you all for your hard work, generosity and camaraderie. Helping those less fortunate than ourselves is so great for the soul!”

The Foundation is well supported across the industry with tmgroup, Groundsure, The Society Of Licensed Conveyancers, LEAP, Morale Solutions, Today’s Media, Bold Legal Group, Property Reporter, Estate Agent Today, The Negotiator , Law Care, Property Conveyancing Consultancy, Orion Legal Marketing, PEXA and most recently Cashroom, all promoting the Foundation’s work.

It will again be the Charity Partner for The British Conveyancing Awards which return to London in March 2024. This year’s event raised over £8,000 for the foundation.

The Conveyancing Foundation Charity Grant Scheme provides those working in the property industry with the opportunity to apply for Charity Grants of up to £2,000 to support their charity fundraising events. In 2023 Charity Grant donations of £2000 have been awarded to Women in Residential Property, who hosted a cinema night to raise vital funds for ‘Ella’s’, and Aconveyancing, who orchestrated an “It’s a Knockout” event, with teams taking part in an inflatable obstacle course race to support “Samuel’s Promise.”
