Businessman loses multimillion-pound property in legal dispute with ex-partner

Peter Andreewitch, 60, is claiming financial ruin following the loss of a valuable property collection to his former girlfriend, Magali Moutreuil, 49, after a prolonged High Court battle, as reported by The Times.

The couple, who began their relationship in 1998 and raised five children together in Chelsea, London, parted ways in 2017. This separation led to a contentious legal dispute over their substantial property assets, including a London home and an international property portfolio.

The court heard that Andreewitch had previously transferred his property company’s shares to Moutreuil as a strategy to protect himself from financial liabilities and to hide his wealth. However, post-separation, he contended that he still owned the properties. Initially, Andreewitch successfully resisted Moutreuil’s legal actions, but a court eventually dismissed his ownership claims three years ago, a decision upheld against his subsequent appeal attempts.

Recently, Andreewitch’s latest ownership claim was rejected in June, deemed an “abuse of process” by Judge Michael Jefferis, who also ordered him to pay significant legal costs. Despite claiming this would financially devastate him, Andreewitch is appealing against the latest judgment.

The court was informed that Andreewitch had managed the properties through Pier Investment Company, transferring all company shares to Moutreuil over two decades ago for self-protection against creditors. Despite this transfer, Andreewitch maintained he never intended for Moutreuil to legally own their London home and German properties. Following their split, he argued that Moutreuil had no rights to the properties, a claim the court rejected in 2020, supporting Moutreuil’s ownership rights. Andreewitch’s recent legal action, citing alleged promises by Moutreuil not to leave him destitute, was also dismissed.

The date for the upcoming appeal hearing is yet to be announced.
