#BCAwards2023 | Sponsor Spotlight: Veya

The third edition of the British Conveyancing Awards is just around the corner. Alongside a new, larger venue and a new headline sponsor in Groundsure, #BCAwards2023 is all about recognising and rewarding the herculean efforts of conveyancing superheroes who, despite hurdles aplenty, continue to go above and beyond to help clients move into their dream home.

Ahead of the splendour and celebration on the 21st March, Today’s Conveyancer will recognise those who help make the event possible through a series of “Sponsor Spotlight” pieces. Here, we speak to Veya, Conveyancing Firm of the Year – North category sponsor.

First of all, tell us who you are and what you do

Veya is a software provider primarily used by conveyancers and estate agents that analyses Land Registry title deeds. Our innovative complexity score and unique insights help conveyancers to streamline their onboarding process and triage cases quickly to the appropriate team member without the need to meticulously read through the title deeds manually.

Veya describes its software as a “game-changer for the property industry”. How do you see this being the case?

A game-changer is described as an event, idea, or procedure that effects a significant shift in the current way of doing or thinking about something. Veya is enabling intelligent routing of property transactions to ensure the correct skill set of conveyancer is matched the complexity of the title.

What is the value of Veya’s ability to plug into the Land Registry as opposed to separate, satellite software solutions?

Veya’s value lies in the ability to use the data extracted from the Land Registry to actively monitor other elements of the transaction, such as whether the names returned on AML checks match back to the property title. Other satellite systems usually only focus on extracting the data for a singular purpose.

In February 2022, Veya announced a partnership with Thirdfort to offer AML checks within its platform. What are the benefits of this partnership for clients both now and moving forwards?

The benefit to our clients is that they can tick off their AML requirements all in one platform. Within the Veya Report the proprietorship details are provided, and by the click of a button they can initiate ID checks to verify that their client is the genuine owner named in the deeds.

It’s said that Veya benefits “every stage of the sale” – something missing with the current, often disjointed conveyancing process. What do you see as the end product of this in terms of the outlook for transactions?

Veya is used right from the outset by the consumer so they can ascertain if the property meets their needs not just from a physical aspect but also from any key restrictions that may prevent them from enjoying the property in the way they intend to. Estate agents use Veya at appraisal, client onboarding, and sales progression to help them understand the risks that may delay the process and remain compliant with integrated AML checks. Veya is also used by conveyancers to enable intelligent case allocation to ensure the skill level of the conveyancer matches with the complexity of the title.
