X-Press Legal Services Tackles Rising Fraud with Upfront ID Checks

X-Press Legal Services has unveiled a powerful new safeguard within its Quotation Management Platform (QMP) in response to a record-breaking surge in UK identify fraud.  Placing digital ID verification right at the start of the conveyancing process, the firm aims to prevent fraudulent transactions before they begin.

With over 421,000 fraud cases reported to the National Fraud Database in 2024—a 13% year-on-year increase and the sharpest rise ever recorded, conveyancers face mounting pressure to protect their firms and clients. As criminals increasingly exploit advanced technologies such as AI and deepfakes, X-Press Legal’s latest innovation delivers a timely and effective solution.

“The sharp rise in identity fraud, coupled with increasing compliance pressure from The Law Society, is making conveyancers understandably more cautious when onboarding new clients, often to the detriment of business growth,”

said Lynne Lister, Managing Director of X-Press Legal Services.

“This latest QMP integration acts as a vital gatekeeper, blocking individuals with fraudulent ID before they even enter the system. By embedding ID verification right at the outset, we’re giving our clients the confidence to move forward with genuine cases, saving time, improving efficiency and reinforcing compliance from day one.”

QMP’s new functionality helps legal professionals enhance due diligence and reduce ID fraud risk from the outset. The secure, cloud-based platform now incorporates identity verification at the point where a prospective client signs a law firm’s terms of business. Individuals are verified through DocuSign Identify – DocuSign’s secure ID verification service – using trusted methods such as AI-enabled biometric (liveness) checks and passport or driving licence scanning. All can be completed in a few simple steps via smartphone. This new approach empowers law firms to verify a client’s identity before any formal arrangement is put in place, reinforcing regulatory compliance and significantly reducing the risk of fraud.

More than just a quotation tool, QMP also offers end-to-end transaction management in one intuitive portal including the option for conveyancers to collaborate with estate agents, mortgage brokers and clients in real-time.

Free to use for X-Press Legal Services property search clients, QMP can be easily integrated into existing CMS systems. X-Press Legal Services’ 27 dedicated local teams across England and Wales offer free onsite training and dedicated support both in person and online.

Nick Stratford of Stratford Solicitors in Poynton, one of the first legal firms to take advantage of QMP commented:

“Our phone lines have gone very quiet – in a good way! Using QMP, we’re more efficient than ever before. That’s enabled us to take on more work and increase our profits.”
