SRA warn over solicitor impersonation.

The SRA has issued another warning to solicitors regarding criminal impersonation of solicitors conveyancers should take note and consider their risk management processes.

Information received from the SRA indicates that the email address guy.clapham@gmx.co.uk and mobile telephone number 07924551313 are not legitimate contact details for solicitor’s practice Guy Clapham & Co. 

The SRA has been informed that a number of individuals have been sent emails purportedly from Guy Clapham of Guy Clapham & Co from email address "guy.clapham@gmx.co.uk" relating to obtaining the benefit of an abandoned investment. 

Guy Clapham & Co is a genuine firm which is authorised and regulated by the SRA and Guy Clapham is a Manager/Partner of the firm and a solicitor. The office is located at 51-55 Weymouth Street, London. The firm’s legitimate telephone number is 0207 9351095. 

Any business or transactions through the email address of guy.clapham@gmx.co.uk, or via the telephone number 07924551313 are not undertaken by a solicitor’s practice or an individual authorised or regulated by the SRA. 

Any information about or dealings with individuals via the email address guy.clapham@gmx.co.uk or telephone number 07924551313, particularly if it involves the payment of money, should be reported to the police. Affected members of the public can also report the matter to the SRA via fraud@sra.org.uk. Solicitors should report the matter to the SRA red alert line on 0845 8500999 or redalert@sra.org.uk.
