SLC to present the results from its lender panel consultation

Following the Society of Licensed Conveyancers’ (SLC’s) recent consultation process, which sourced the profession’s feedback on its new lender panel proposition, the SLC has announced a series of four regional conferences, where the initial findings are being presented.

Since launching its initial proposition, SLC Quality Assured (SLCQA) to the conveyancing community at its annual conference in late 2011, the SLC has undertaken a consultation, to obtain detailed feedback from the Licensed Conveyancer profession. Over 15% of the whole Licensed Conveyancer community participated in the consultation, by completing an online survey, which was distributed via the Council of Licensed Conveyancers (CLC) in early 2012. The survey asked Licensed Conveyancers to submit their views on a number of aspects of the new SLC Quality Assured scheme — from proposed costings to the sharing of information and their desire to be part of the scheme. The findings have now been collated and summarised and will be presented to conference attendees.

The conferences, which are taking place at four locations across England, kicked off last week, with an event in Bristol. Events in Leeds, Leicester and London are scheduled for the coming weeks — with some spaces still available. The events will include a detailed presentation from the SLC, providing an in-depth summary of the survey findings. Those attending the conferences will then be given an opportunity to provide their feedback before the proposition is refined and then launched to the market in the second quarter of this year.

John Clay, Chairman, Society of Licensed Conveyancers (SLC) said: “The consultation has been an important process, which has allowed us to gain valuable insight into the profession’s reaction to our proposition. The initial response from the industry has been largely positive, while highlighting a few areas that may need further attention before we are ready to launch the final solution. Following the four regional conferences, we plan to spend the next month refining the lender panel solution, based on the feedback secured, before launching it officially into the marketplace in the early summer.”

There are still a limited number of places left at the three remaining conferences. Those interested in attending can visit the SLC’s website www.conveyancers.org.uk or call the SLC on 08714 237193 for further information.

Attendance is free and will provide attendees with two free CPD points. The sessions will run between 4:30pm and 7pm and are sponsored by TM Secure, part of the TM Group, which will be providing the system for SLCQA.

Regional meetings:

Wednesday 14th March: Bristol (Mercure Holland House Hotel)
Tuesday 20th March: Leeds (Novotel — city centre)
Wednesday 21st March: Leicester (Mercure Hotel)

Tuesday 3rd April: London (Novotel — Tower Bridge)

SLC Quality Assured is specifically designed for Licensed Conveyancers and looks to address the issues associated with panel creation – allowing Licensed Conveyancers to either stay on or in fact join lenders’ panels.
