Home movers may continue to buy and sell houses following the government’s move to take control of spiralling Covid-19 cases.
A few hours after the announcement about the tightening of social distancing controls over Christmas and the reduction of the planned 5 day break to just Christmas Day, Housing Minister Robert Jenrick took to Twitter to confirm that the housing market would remain open across all the tiers, including the newly introduced Tier 4.
Following the announcement in England and Wales, Scotland’s First Minister Nicola Sturgeon announced that there would be no cross border travel allowed over Christmas, except for essential purposes.
The Department of Health and Social Care has released further guidance on the Tier 4 restrictions which states in regard to home moving
You may also leave home to fulfil legal obligations, or to carry out activities related to buying, selling, letting or renting a residential property, or vote in certain elections taking place overseas.

You can still move home. People outside your household or support bubble should not help with moving house unless absolutely necessary.

These latest restrictions have been implemented from Sunday 20th December and are due to last 2 weeks.
