New Business and Oversight Membership announced

The Law Society and Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) recently announced the new Business and Oversight Board membership.
The new board will watch over the delivery of shared services to both organisations and will also advise Law Society Council on oversight of the SRA.
Consisting of equal numbers of members from each organisation and including three external members the new board will have its first meeting today.
President of the Law Society, John Wotton, commented:
“The new Board will underpin the working relationship between the Law Society and the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA), while retaining the SRA’s operational independence.  It is pleasing that we have been able to attract such able members which promises an effective fulfilment of the Board’s role.”

Michael Blacker, former Head of Legal and Company Secretary at AMEC plc
Laura Carstensen, ex-Deputy Chair of Competition Commission
David Fisher, Chief Executive at Sainsbury’s Bank
Charles Plant, Chair of the SRA, commented:
"This new Board will help to ensure effective management of support services for both bodies and will reinforce the SRA’s operational independence. I thank the members for agreeing to serve in this way and look forward to us working together."
