Industry report demonstrates digital steps in conveyancing

Legal tech startup Thirdfort has delivered an in-depth analysis of how the conveyancing industry is adopting digital solutions.

The report is based on an industry-wide survey of over 150 managing partners, heads of conveyancing, partners, conveyancers and legal assistants. It explores what’s driving the digitalisation of conveyancing, how Covid-19 has impacted this change, what type of firms are likely to pursue these kinds of strategies and what the common barriers to change withing the industry are. The report includes guest contributions from compliance expert Amy Bell, Founder and Director of legal consultancy Teal Compliance.

The legal sector is embracing technology at an increasing rate and certain developments such as digital signatures and video witnessing of wills mean that this trend is likely to continue apace. At the same time, firms have had to digitalise their approach to client due diligence due to social distancing and lockdown restrictions. But how much of an impact has Covid-19 played on firms’ willingness to innovate?

Olly Thornton-Berry, Co-Founder and Managing D of Thirdfort, said:

“The conveyancing world is changing at an ever-faster pace and firms must keep up with industry trends to make sure they stay competitive. This survey confirmed to us that despite the assumption that Covid-19 has been a catalyst with regards to the adoption of technology, it’s actually risk, compliance and efficiency that are driving digitalisation in the conveyancing market.
