There is something reassuring , albeit somewhat alarming, that when emailing another solicitor on a Saturday and not expecting a response, I received an immediate response. This shows the pressure that we are under coming into the end of March. Conveyancers are working ridiculous hours again, and I was pleased to see that one contributor on LinkedIn had reported that she intended to give all of her conveyancing staff the day off on the 1st April.
I would like to think that there will be a collective sigh of relief on the morning of the 1st April, but experience shows that conveyancing is relentless and that there will be those clients who will be complaining that they did not complete in the time scale they wanted – through no fault of any of us – or who now want their case to be priority.
I would also like to think that you are all nodding along with me – this is our life at the moment. It is relentless; there are not enough hours in the day, and we are living and breathing house moves.
I would also like to think estate agents and other professionals involved in the process know this is our life; and clients know we are doing all we can and that we appreciate the pressure they are under but we are spinning ten plates while juggling with two apples and a pear while making a jigsaw puzzle!
I am sending good thoughts to all conveyancers at the moment. And without wishing to demoralise you further, we all know that there are two and a bit weeks left but there are only really eleven working days. We can do this. Keep smiling, stay positive and we can get through it.
