Data standards body unveils new search quality mark

The Conveyancing Information Executive (CIE), the search data standards body set up in 2020, has announced a revamp of it’s branding and the launch of a new quality mark members will display on search reports.

The CIE was founded by Groundsure, Landmark Legal, SearchFlow and Geodesys, with the ambition to “raise data quality and content standards, in property searches used in the UK conveyancing process.” The trade body says it has a defined set of principles enshrined in its CIE Standards and Code of Practice.

A new-look website has also been launched to ‘give a fresh and clear perspective on what its member businesses represent, what conveyancers can expect and rely on, and what prospective members can do to stand out in terms of data quality and standards.’ Chair of CIE Kevin Brown, said

“We are excited to launch our new site and Quality Mark which re-asserts our purpose and that of our member businesses – namely, trust and reliance on the CIE data standards that power hundreds of thousands of property searches per year. This comes at a time when compliance requirements for conveyancers and commercial real estate lawyers to meet homebuyers, business owners and lenders needs has never been more critical.”

The new website provides valuable resources to understand how we add value and give assurance to legal professionals that searches backed by the CIE Quality Mark have been prepared to the very highest standards for their client.”

The Quality Mark will be rolled out across members’ data and reports over the coming months and is evidence of their commitment to the ‘highest possible data ethics, sourcing the best available, richest geospatial data and maintaining compliance to guidance and standards on behalf of their customers and the end client.’

CIE will also be at the Modern Law Awards in Liverpool on 21st November to help celebrate the best in our market, as well as discuss how firms can take advantage of the Quality Mark and standards.

  1. It’s called the Conveyancing Information Executive, not the Conveyancing Association. It’s the first 3 words of the article and it’s wrong!
