The Council of Property Search Organisations (CoPSO) is seeking a new chair after James Sherwood-Rogers announced he would be stepping down at the end of September 2024.

Sherwood-Rogers confirmed in August he would be stepping down after over 10 years as chair saying

I am proud of what CoPSO has achieved, but it is time to move on, particularly as the demands of other interests put increasing pressure on my time.”

“CoPSO members have been instrumental in driving innovation, digitising data and processes, improving speed and access to information, lowering costs for consumers, and holding data owners such as local and central government to account for data accuracy, availability and integrity. It is an essential role that I am sure it will continue to play.”

Having considered the future of the role CoPSO have now announced they will be seeking a new chair for the organisation which was launched in 2003.

Speaking to Today’s Conveyancer, CoPSO indicated they would welcome applications from across the sector, from people who have

  • extensive knowledge of the home buying and selling process, and of the Search Industry
  • an understanding of the importance of the Search Code
  • a positive and established reputation in the sector
  • experience in dealing with and lobbying of Government bodies

Speaking on the future of CoPSO and their recruitment plans Christian Lister from X-Press Legal Services, an Executive Member of the organisation said

as transformation of the home buying and selling process, and digitisation of property data, take centre stage, CoPSO has a vital role to play and the incoming Chair will be central to setting the Council’s strategy and delivery to these agendas.”

For more information and to express your interest please contact emma@copso.org.uk. The closing date for applications is Wednesday 6th November 2024.
