A conveyancer has been removed from the profession after attempting to divert client money to herself.
Whilst working at law firm Shoosmiths, non-solicitor Lisa Wilson concocted a plan to take funds by intercepting a cheque.
According to a notice of the Solicitors Regulation Authority website, Wilson had been working in the firm’s conveyancing department for five years until 16 June last year. It stated that she has amended the payee details of a cheque into her name. In the IT system, she also drafted a letter to give the impression the cheque has indeed been sent to her.
Wilson then went to cash the cheque but changed her mind, leaving without obtaining the cash. The conduct was found as dishonest and she is subject to a section 43 order.
Wilson resigned on the 16 June 2017.
