Conceived in 2020/21 as a celebration of the efforts of conveyancers throughout the COVID-19 pandemic to keep the property market moving, the awards are now in their fifth year and firmly established in the legal events calendar. Starting out as a live-streamed online event, the awards has grown to welcome over 400 practitioners and over the last five years has seen over 500 submissions reviewed by the expert judging panels, recognised 223 individuals and firms on the shortlists and crowned 75 winners.

Commenting on their continued support for the Awards, returning as Headline Sponsors for the third year, David Kempster, Marketing Director at Groundsure says

“We are proud once again to be headline sponsor of the British Conveyancing Awards. They embody all that is very best in our industry – in terms of not only service excellence, innovation and commercial success, but also the professionalism, care and support we all offer to our clients and wider community too. It’s going to be another great night, so get it in your diaries now and start planning those award submissions!”

The British Conveyancing Awards pioneered some unique categories from the outset, introducing “Mental Health & Wellbeing Conveyancing Firm of the Year”, “Risen to the Challenge’ Legal Secretary” and “Risk and Compliance Champion of the Year” in its first year. In the time since the categories have evolved and are continually reviewed ahead of each year. Indeed, part of the awards’ success can be attributed to the focus it places on the independence of the event and scrutiny of the entries says David Opie, Managing Director of Today’s Media.

“From day one every decision we have made has been to further burnish the credentials of the award; it is critical they are regarded as credible and trustworthy. To that end we spend hours poring over the categories and entry criteria each year to ensure they are reflective of this ever changing industry.”

“The judging panel is the epitome of these efforts with the line up regularly refreshed to ensure the independence of the event. Our panel this year will again be drawn from across the legal services sector and we’re hugely grateful to each and every one of our judges for the time and energy they put into scrutinising the submissions.”

Popular categories including “Customer Service Champions” “Conveyancing Firm of the Year” and “Best Place to Work” return alongside a handful of new for 2025 categories; “Consultant Firm of the Year”, “Conveyancer of the Year” and a split “Residential Property Team of the Year” category for Boutique and Large firms.

2025 also sees the launch of a hugely important new category; “Conveyancing Excellence”. The award, which will replace the “Today’s Conveyancer Industry Champion”, embodies everything that Today’s Conveyancer stands for as a news publication and everything The British Conveyancing Awards was introduced to recognise; independence, integrity and a recognition of the incredible diversity of the profession. a category into which all the conveyancing firm and individual categories will be entered, with the winner identified as being the cream of the crop.
