Speakers from MHCLG, CLC and Law Society confirmed for Bold Legal Group conference

A growing line-up of speakers and sessions has been confirmed for the Bold Legal Group Conveyancing Conference & Soirée 2026, which takes place on Wednesday 17th June at Regent’s University in London.

Confirmed speakers include Law Society president Mark Evans, Ministry for Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG) strategy adviser Tom Treadwell, and representatives from the Council for Licensed Conveyancers (CLC), with more guests to be announced.

The programme will see senior figures from government, regulation and the conveyancing sector come together to tackle some of the most significant issues facing the profession. From policy reform and compliance to technology and the future of the sector, the day will offer delegates a broad and substantive programme of professional development, networking and industry insights.

Tom Treadwell, strategy adviser in the Home Ownership Division at MHCLG will present the findings of the government’s consultation into the home buying and selling process. Working across upfront information, property agents, consumer education, and end-to-end digitalisation, Tom will set out the government’s conclusions and its plans for reform, providing essential context for any conveyancer wanting to understand the direction of policy travel.

Representatives from the CLC will present the findings of their recent research into referral fees, with a structured panel debate bringing together advocates on both sides of the argument. The session is designed to offer clarity in a divisive issue and enable an open airing of competing views.

With HMRC’s tax adviser registration period now under way, a dedicated panel session will examine the options open to firms, unpick the latest guidance, weigh up the risks and benefits of each approach, and look at how firms can protect both clients and themselves as they navigate the unknown.

The compliance agenda includes a session examining the shift towards intelligent client due diligence. As regulatory requirements grow and fraud becomes more sophisticated, the session will explore how automation can support complex tasks including source of funds verification and AML screening, while maintaining the human oversight that remains essential.

Also confirmed on the agenda is a session cutting through the noise around digital conveyancing. Every week brings new headlines about the digitalisation of the sector, but the reality for many firms is more complex. With perspectives drawn from conveyancing practice, regulation and professional indemnity, the session will take an honest look at where technology is genuinely delivering value and where the challenges remain, a grounded discussion for any practice thinking carefully about its approach.

Rounding out the confirmed programme, Rob Hailstone will sit down with Law Society of England and Wales president Mark Evans for a live Q&A. As his presidency year draws to a close, Mark will reflect on his time in post and share his perspective on the future of the profession. Delegates will have the opportunity to put their own questions to him directly.

Rob Hailstone, founder and CEO of Bold Legal Group, said: “Referral fees, SDLT registration, government reform of the home buying and selling process – these are the conversations our members are having every day.

“We’ve built a programme that tackles them head on, with the right people in the room to have those discussions properly. And with more sessions still to be announced, I think this year’s conference is shaping up to be one of the most relevant and useful we’ve put on.”

Further speakers and sessions will be announced.

Tickets are available now.
