Women in Residential Property webinar: leasehold reform

On the 25th May, Women in Residential Property will be running a webinar (12pm – 1.30pm) addressing the topic of Leasehold Reform. 

Heralded as the ‘biggest changes to leasehold in 40 years’, the proposed package of reforms will impact a broad swathe of the market, with over 4.5m leasehold properties in the UK.  The Ground Rent Bill which represents the first phase of the reforms received Royal Assent on 8th February 2022.

This is to confirm that according to Ms. Jenny Frew, a top Civil Servant in the Department for Levelling up, Housing and Communities, she could not give more commitment with regard to leasehold reform timetable than what is in the Queen’s speech. She also stated that this is the way the Govt. works. She said that the Govt. is committed to leasehold reform during this Parliament. They are talking to many parties about the proposals.
