Thank you readers – we celebrate 5 years!

Five years ago this month, Today’s Conveyancer had a tentative start. Today we wanted to thank all our readers, advertisers and supporters for our growth.

This month Today’s Conveyancer is surprisingly 5 years’ old and today we are a few hundred visitors away from 200,000 individuals to our website since launch. Who would have thought that so many people might be interested in the subject? We’d like to thank all our readers, advertisers and staff for helping us achieve this level of growth and presence.

In March 2010, I tentatively searched the internet for a piece of software that would allow me to publish news on a website. Quite quickly, I had cobbled together a graphic for the headline logo, and I had a minimum viable looking website. It was very ropey, more so than the present website, but it was live.

I then went about the hard work of trying to write something interesting about conveyancing every day. Given that it isn’t the most exciting of subjects, I’m regularly quite surprised when reminded that we have published about 5,000 articles since launch – many of which have attracted thousands of readers.

Within 2 months of Today’s Conveyancer’s launch, we had over 300 people signed up to the newsletter. On the downside, a complete stranger emailed me saying it was a great idea but that it wouldn’t last. His argument was that my poor spelling and grammar would kill off what was otherwise a good idea, and to be honest his comments were very fair.

Five years later, Today’s Conveyancer has a full time editor who works with a number of freelance journalists. Without Heather, Karen and Jane who help ensure that Today’s Conveyancer continues to publish articles conveyancers seem to want to read, I’m sure the site would not be as popular as it is today.

In addition, without all the advertisers who fund what we do, we would not be able to continue to publish. We’d therefore like to show our gratitude to them also, in particular those advertisers that have supported us from the very start and continue to do so. These include GroundSure, CLS and TM Group. Whilst I know the website can look like a glorified Christmas tree with all the flashing adverts, it is the suppliers to the conveyancing sector that fund our model.

Finally, thank you to all the readers. Every year we see more people sign up to our newsletter and more readers visit without having received our Monday newsletter. Please feel free to comment, share and let us know your views – we are always keen to improve.

Over the last 5 years, some large names and brands in the sector have come and gone. It will be interesting to see how conveyancing will continue to alter and develop.

As for the site, well we have some plans for the site this year that are quite exciting, but we will release news about that as it happens.

In the meantime, you might want to let your colleagues know about Today’s Wills & Probate and Legal Compliance Today – our latest publications.

Once again. thank you to everyone that has helped us develop and maintain Today’s Conveyancer.

With all my thanks

Chris
