SRA revocation process begins

SRA revocation process begins

The SRA has confirmed that it began its revocation process on Monday, 4 February, when it contacted individuals who had failed to complete the practising certificate renewals exercise.

As of today, 11 per cent of expected applications are either incomplete or have not been submitted.

Individuals who were part of their firm’s ‘bulk’ renewal application are now allowed to access and submit their own individual application, should they wish to continue practising.

Individuals who have decided they do not want to renew, nor do they wish to remain on the Roll, should:

– update their mySRA profile, and either:

– complete a non-renewal of practising certificate or registration notification form at www.sra.org.uk/nnr

or

– complete form KR2 to remove their name from the roll, accessible at www.sra.org.uk/kr2

The consequences of the SRA revoking the authorisation of a firm or an individual lawyer are very serious.

Providing legal services when not authorised to do so could constitute a criminal offence.

Firms and individuals needing support to submit their application should contact the SRA by calling the Contact Centre on 0870 606 2555 (inside the UK).

The Contact Centre opening hours are: 8am to 6pm, Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and 9.30am to 6pm, Tuesday.

Alternatively, those wishing to seek advice from Professional Ethics should ring on 0870 606 2577 (inside the UK).

Professional Ethics opening hours are:9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday.

International telephone enquirers should call +44 (0)121 329 6800.

A question and answer sheet on the process is available here: www.sra.org.uk/revocation
