SRA launches ‘Red Tape' challenge

At the opening of their new office this evening at The Cube, in Birmingham city centre, the SRA announced they will be launching a “red tape” challenge.

The SRA will be launching a consultation on the challenge in mid-December and will be seeking views from across the board.

The Chair of the SRA board, Charles Plant, said that raising standards both in the short-term and in the long-term is a key focus for the organisation.

He said the initiative will help ensure that firms and the SRA can maximise the benefits of OFR by removing unnecessary bureaucracy.

The SRA will undertake regular reviews of its processes and regulations to ensure they are fit for purpose.

This aim would be backed up by a fundamental review of legal education and training.

The Rt Hon The Lord Judge, Lord Chief Justice of England and Wales and over 100 guests attended this evening’s launch party.

The Chair of the SRA Board, Charles Plant, described the move to The Cube as “a truly definitive step in the transformation of the SRA”.
