SRA issues warning over fraud using the name of Universal Solicitors

The SRA has on 8 March issued an alert over a fraud involving fake letters using the name of Universal Solicitors.  
The SRA states that fake documentation has been sent out using the name Universal Solicitors.  This documentation gives an address of 94 Whitechapel High Street, Whitechapel, London, E1 7RA.  The telephone number 0203 004 8307 and fax number 0203 004 8321 are also given.  These are not the genuine contact details for Universal Solicitors.
Any transactions undertaken by a firm calling themselves Universal Solicitors and using the contact details above are not undertaken by a firm regulated by the SRA.  Money should not be sent to anyone using these contact details.  The SRA states that any dealings with ‘Universal Solicitors’ using these contact details should be reported to the police.  
A genuine firm of the name Universal Solicitors is located at 3rd Floor, 94a Whitechapel High Street, Whitechapel, London, E1 7RA.  The genuine phone number for the firm is 020 7377 5511.  The genuine fax number for the firm is 020 7377 8811.
