SRA championing innovation in the legal sector

The Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) has today (9th November) unveiled a new initiative to support legal services firms that want to innovate and grow their business in creative ways.

SRA Innovate‘ provides online guidance and support to solicitors and law firms who are looking at new ways to serve their clients and run their businesses. The SRA is also extending its helpline support, with experts on hand to offer centralised, consistent advice to firms who want to work in creative ways.

This new resource reinforces the SRA’s commitment to helping legal service providers develop their businesses and is part of the overall evolution of the SRA’s regulatory approach. Increasingly, the SRA is looking to simplify what it does and how it does it and move away from prescriptive rules.

Crispin Passmore, Executive Director for Policy and Education, said: “The legal services market is ever changing and firms want to adapt to meet demand and grow their business. And we want to help them do that.

“These new resources will help equip firms with the guidance and support they need when innovating. We want our regulation to support innovation, which in turn can be a real benefit to the public.

“It doesn’t matter if you are an existing law firm or new to providing legal services, a traditional partnership or an ABS. SRA Innovate is here to help you navigate regulation and meet your client’s needs.

“My advice to any firms thinking about developing innovative offers is, get in touch and let’s talk about how we can try and make it work. Our starting point is an instinct to say ‘yes’ to new, creative ideas.”
