We are pleased to announce that this year’s Society of Licensed Conveyancers/Bold Legal Group Conference and Dinner, will be held on Wednesday 23rd November once again at the Riverside Centre in Derby.

We are delighted that the following speakers have already confirmed that they will present at the event:

  • Neil Buckley  – CEO of the Legal Services Board
  • Graham Farrant – CEO at the Land Registry
  • Dame Janet Paraskeva (Chair) and Sheila Kumar (CEO) from the CLC
  • June Deasy – Head of Policy at the Council of Mortgage Lenders
  • Emma Vigus – Director of PI Insurance at Howden Group
  • Hannah Mackinlay –

The conference dinner has grown so much in popularity that we have had to move to a new venue to accommodate the growing number of attendees. This year it will be held at the iPro Stadium (home of Derby County FC) in the evening following the conference.

Simon Law the Chairman of the SLC said: “We are looking for a lot of interaction between the speakers and delegates this year as the world of conveyancing gets ever more complex. As the SLC has continued to grow in numbers and influence, we are delighted once again to be working with the Bold Legal Group whose outreach in the profession also continues to grow.”

Rob Hailstone, founder of BLG commented: “The Conference provides a great opportunity not just for the excellent and varied agenda on offer, but also to network with members and fellow professionals. I am really pleased that the BLG will team up with the SLC once again this year in the only event in the Conference calendar organised by conveyancers for conveyancers.”

The events are open to all legal professionals and offer an opportunity to ensure that CPD commitments for the current year are being met in timely fashion.

Society of Licensed Conveyancers

The Society of Licensed Conveyancers (SLC) is the professional body that represents the Licensed Conveyancer profession. It exists to serve the interests of its members working constructively with the Council for Licensed Conveyancers (CLC) as well as other stakeholders such as Government Departments, industry representative bodies, consumer organisations and the media; national, local and trade.

The Society has existed from the time the Licensed Conveyancer profession was established by Act of Parliament in the 1980s and has delivered many important and valuable services to members over the years.

The SLC is focused on six key objectives:

1. Helping members to face the future with confidence

2. Providing a viable proposition for members to act on behalf of mortgage lenders as part of their panels (SLC Quality Assured is the SLC’s new solution, which is currently in the final stages of development)

3. Providing information and advice on the opportunities that the new Alternative Business Structures (ABS) provide

4. Helping members to take advantage of technology to compete for the future

5. Providing additional products and services to help members differentiate themselves to their clients and enhance their income streams in the process

6. Give members an enhanced and inclusive professional identity
