Marketing for conveyancers

SLC appoints additional directors

The SLC has announced the appointment of Gill Pirie of Chelmer Conveyancing Services, Shelley-Rae Rounding of Wills Chandler and Valerie Holmes of Valerie Holmes Property Lawyers as directors of the Society.

All will form part of the SLC board and be responsible for developing the SLC’s future strategy, ensuring that the growing numbers of Licensed Conveyancers have an effective voice across the legal profession, and exploring new and innovative solutions for the benefit of its members.

Simon Law, Chairman of the Society of Licensed Conveyancers (SLC) said: “By expanding our board of directors, we can ensure that going forward we have a strong team representing a wide span of the conveyancing profession to guide and further develop the Society.”

Gill Pirie added: “In terms of the conveyancing industry, the biggest challenge for me currently as a sole practitioner is not being able to act for many of the mortgage lenders whilst trying to engage and retain clients.

"I am hoping with the combined efforts of the board members it won’t be long before we are all once again back on the panels.

"Together with this I am looking forward to facilitating the promotion of the SLC in order to boost membership.”

Valerie Holmes said: “I think that Conveyancers face some challenging times ahead and I hope that as a board member, I am able to make a positive contribution towards developing solutions to the current issues and the future challenges”.

Shelley Rae Rounding said: “The Society has been very proactive over the last year and has really established itself within the profession.

“We have an exciting year ahead and as a new board member, I am really looking forward to playing a part in what the future holds.”
