Simply Conveyancing has announced the resignation of its CEO, Doug Crawford with former L&C Mortgages chief Alan Young appointed as its new CEO, effective immediately.
Simply is backed by private equity investors, Livingbridge, and had grown to 300 employees with offices across England and Wales.
Alan Young was the founder and managing director of conveyancing and survey panel management business, Optimus which was sold to Landmark Information Group in 2019 and has more recently been at L&C Mortgages. He initially joined Simply in August 2024 as Chief Commercial Officer. On his appointment Adam Holloway, Partner at Livingbridge, said,
“We welcome Alan Young to his new role as CEO. Alan has an outstanding track record of driving growth and developing new markets and is an excellent cultural fit for the business. We are excited to support him and the company in its next phase of growth.”
Alan Young added
“I am honoured to build on the formidable foundations put in place by Doug Crawford and the talented team here at Simply. I look forward to leading the company and its amazing group of people to its next stage of growth and innovation at this transformative time in our industry.”

Big big job there to introduce some professional high standards there. Although i expect making as much money as possible will continue to be the god at the expense of client care and being a joy to be on the other side.
“The leading provider of quality residential conveyancing services”
Cut & paste from the press release? I hope so, as it’s pretty awful journalism if it’s not.
Interesting timing…Is all not well there?
David Jabbari, CEO Muve. There is nothing positive in this announcement. Doug was a big hire brought in to achieve an unrealistic turnaround and there are very big question marks where Simply, and Simplify for that matter, go next. In the meantime we will forge ahead as the UK’s most innovative conveyancing firm committed to being the market leader on fast conveyancing.
David Jabbari we want good Conveyancing, the best not quickest.
