The Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal has placed sanctions on a solicitor and law firm after finding them guilty of “very serious” misconduct.

James Mawbey-Shaw, a Partner at Wilson’s Solicitors were jointly fined £17, 500 following the tribunal. they also has to pay costs of £36,650.

It is reported that Mr Mawbey-Shaw put approximately £11million of client funds at risk.

The tribunal has come around as a result of the firm earning close to £800,000 in fees on multiple failed property developments, and ‘quick sale’ conveyancing.

Mr Mawbey-Shaw received a three year ban on the solicitor practicing as a sole owner or manager, and on being a compliance officer.
