PSG Conquer The Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge

At 6.30pm on Saturday 1st June, the last member of the PSG Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge Team crossed the finish line with a time of 11 hours and 30 minutes.

It was a brilliant day and the clear weather conditions made for plenty of photo opportunities, to view the photos please visit the flickr link at the bottom of the page.

The team were raring to go and set off at 7am. Healthy competition drove the walkers up the incredibly steep Pen-y-ghent with the first walker reaching the 694m peak within 57 minutes of leaving base camp. The team spirit and determination of the walkers fuelled the forthcoming hours and kept all walkers going throughout the gruelling challenge. The thrill of completing the final peak left the walkers on a huge high although it was widely agreed that the last 2 miles felt like 10, with aching limbs, blisters and other injuries taking their toll.
First man back was Paul Owen, Director of PSG’s Guildford office.  Paul, the oldest member of the PSG network taking part, completed the hike in an astonishing 9 hours and 5 minutes accompanied by Groundsure’s man of Steel, Peter Garforth. First woman back was Ruth Edwards from PSG’s Oldham office who completed the walk in 11 hours and 5 minutes.
Stephen Murray, Business Development Director at PSG commented… “We knew it would be a tough challenge and it was, but the weather helped by staying kind. Non-walkers from PSG applauded and cheered the exhausted adventurers as they arrived back at our bunkhouse and rewarded them with a home made Indian Banquet. The success of the walk represents a truly amazing achievement for all involved and demonstrates the dedication and determination of everyone in PSG in all that we do.”

Of course the biggest achievement of the weekend and the driving force behind the event was that PSG raised over £6,000 for good causes and donations are still coming in.
