Property transaction figures show summer cooling

New transaction data for England and Wales shows slight decline in the market across all regions.

With a total of 1,619,118 applications completed in July, the latest HM Land Registry Transaction Data shows a 5% decrease compared the previous month.

Out of the 1,593,959 applications by account holders:

  • 382,789 were for registered land
  • 757,541 were to obtain official copies of a register or title plan
  • 216,998 were searches
  • 82,797 were transactions for value

The South East remained at the top of the table, with 380,869 applications completed – a monthly decline of 4%.

The top three local authority areas for application volumes were again Birmingham (25,360), City of Westminster (21,645) and Leeds (17,500).

With the most transactions for value, the top three conveyancers for July 2017 were:

  • My Home Move (1,876)
  • O’Neill Patient (933)
  • Countrywide Property Lawyers (652)

These firms have kept the highest level of transactions for value within HM Land Registry reports for the last three months.

O’Neill Patient was also in the top three for searches, with a total of 7,991.
