PEXA launches fraud and conveyancing webinar series for Fraud Awareness Week

Conveyancing technology provider PEXA has launched a series of webinars to be run throughout Fraud Awareness Week, to help educate the sector on the evolving risks of fraud posed to property.

The webinars come as banking trade association UK Finance warned fraud remains a major threat, with an increase in both the total number of fraud cases and the amount of money lost in the first half of 2025. According to the Law Society, 65% of law firms faced cyber incidents in the last year, with a customer survey by PwC in November 2024 finding 30% of buyers have experienced property fraud.

And Action Fraud figures published this year revealed between April 2024 and May 2025 there were 143 cases of conveyancing fraud, resulting in £11.7 million in losses with an average loss of £78,393 per case. Separate analysis by Lloyds Bank found victims of conveyancing scams lose £47,000 on average, with some losing more than £250,000.

To mark International Fraud Awareness Week and raise awareness of these issues, PEXA is bringing together industry experts to explore how conveyancers can ‘build confidence through stronger processes, tools, and a secure digital experience’.

Over the course of five webinars, a panel of experts will discuss how conveyancers can prevent fraud collectively as a sector. Speakers from the CLC, Credas, Ctrl-Shift, Dutton Gregory, DSIT, Select ID, National Fraud Intelligence Bureau, Marsh, Muve and SRA will discuss the latest developments in cybercrime, digital identity, insurance, and how to improve efficiency while reducing fraud exposure.
