Relatus are a specialist tax advisory firm focusing on Stamp Duty Land Tax (SDLT) and Land Transaction Tax (LTT). We are one of the market leaders in this area and our experienced team consists of qualified accountants, ATT technicians and qualified (non-practicing) solicitors.
SDLT and LTT are highly complex areas of taxation which are constantly evolving and lack legislative clarity leading to uncertainty and for conveyancers, the risk of negligence claims. Relatus can ensure this doesn’t happen, we work with both purchasers and conveyancers pre or post completion or in relation to compliance check into a return. We have many years of experience in this niche area of taxation and regularly achieve the best outcomes for our clients at review/appeal/Tribunal level.
Relatus provide an SDLT or LTT check service to conveyancers to ensure that the return is accurate and any possible reliefs are properly considered. For more complicated transactions we can provide in depth written opinions which can be relied upon to support a return and for those purchasers who receive a compliance check, we will represent them during the check and further including at a Tax Tribunal should it become necessary.
We are only too aware of how HMRC apply an unduly restrictive and inconsistent approach in relation to SDLT should they select a return for compliance testing. We have deep knowledge and experience gained over many years of dealing directly with HMRC on behalf of our taxpayer clients who appreciate our support during what can be an extremely stressful and worrying time for them.
