Opportunities arise for conveyancers on the Wirral

The development of over 1,000 new homes has been confirmed as part of Merseyside’s Wirral Waters Project.

In an announcement made yesterday, developer Peel Land and Property started that among the schemes will be a joint venture with Urban Splash. A £55 million investment will go towards the construction of 347 modular homes on a Birkenhead dockland site.

For the second development, Belong Villages are partnering with Peel to create a specialised dementia care village. As well as six households which will provide full time support for up to a dozen residents, the village will be also be made up of 34 apartments available to rent or buy.

Wirral Waters One is the third development, with building scheduled to begin soon. Approved by the Cabinet of Wirral Council, the project will involve the construction of approximately 500 apartments at an estimated cost of £90 million.

The project, which developer Peel state is the UK’s largest regeneration project at present, will produce around 13,000 residential units, 10,000,000 square feet of industrial space and up to 215,000,000 square feet of floor space.

Commenting on the plans was Nick Walkley. The Chief Executive of the Government’s Homes England agency commented: “It is great to see how our partners are using Government funding to significantly increase build rates on key schemes.

“The Housing Infrastructure Fund is helping unlock strategic sites across the country for development and Wirral Waters is an excellent example of this. Peel are providing a mix of house types to ensure that the development will meet the needs of local people.”
