Number of properties lodged for registration builds

August saw a significant rise in the number of properties lodged for registration. According to HM Land Registry data, the total saw a monthly rise of 5,039.

Price Paid Data from HM Land Registry sets out the details of residential and commercial land and property sales in England and Wales. During August 2017, 98,513 sales were lodged for registration.

As well as the total number of lodged registrations, the data also specifies the type of property as well as the price paid.

Of those that were registered:

  • 22,782 were detached
  • 26,056 were semi-detached
  • 26,515 were terraced
  • 17,085 were flats or maisonettes
  • 6,075 were classed as other

Three-quarters of property sales lodged during August were freehold, remaining unchanged month-on-month. In contrast, the proportion of new builds saw a slight fall, dropping from 8.8% to 7.3%.
