November sees sales received for registration rise

Price paid data from HM Land Registry sets out the details of residential and commercial land and property sales in England and Wales.

During November 2017, 106,412 sales were received for registration, representing a month on month rise of 5404.

Of those that received registration, 79,133 were freehold, up 10.3% compared to November 2016. New builds still saw an annual increase, albeit more modest, with figures rising by 5.2% to 13,095.

The types of property that made up sales received for registration are as follows:

  • 27,890 were terraced
  • 27,093 were semi-detached
  • 24,767 were detached
  • 19,635 were flats/maisonettes
  • 7,027 were classed as other

In November 2017, the most expensive residential sales took place in the London Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, were a semi-detached property sold for £13 million.

The cheapest, however, occurred in Burnley in Lancashire, where a terraced property sold for £15,000.

Commercially speaking, the most expensive sale during November 2017 took place in Solihull where a property sold for £73,900,000.

The cheapest commercial sales took place in Cambridge, Fenland, Redbridge and Southend on Sea, with properties each selling for £100.
