The new edition of the UK Finance Mortgage Lenders’ handbook is live from today (Monday 29th June).

The handbook will operate from a new platform and has been developed to deliver “a substantial enhancement in the quality and consistency of the services it provides to users”, UK Finance said. It remains free to use for conveyancers.

Improvements include enhanced security with two-factor authentication, improved searches with the option to save favourite searches, set up alerts for changes to handbook content, compare lender responses, and export and print content.

Speaking exclusively to Today’s Conveyancer at the UK Finance Annual Mortgage Lunch last month, UK Finance managing director of personal finance and prudential regulation Eric Leenders said UK Finance had “been through a discovery process in the development of the revised handbook”.

“As we went through this process it became quite clear quite quickly that it was important to ensure the handbook is free at the point of use for conveyancers,” he added.

The new edition has been available in parallel with the previous version since 1st June to give conveyancers time to become familiar with the new layout, although it was not available for use in live conveyancing matters.

The new platform will be live from 9am today, with users required to register to gain access. Only one person from each firm is required to register, which can be done here.
