New SLC board members

The SLC has appointed an additional two directors to its board with immediate effect.

Michelle Rickard of PDR Property Lawyers and Darren Becks of Angela Viney Conveyancing Services have joined the board.

The board is responsible for developing the SLC’s future strategy, while exploring new solutions for the benefit of its members.

John Clay, Chairman, Society of Licensed Conveyancers (SLC) welcomed Michelle and Darren onto the board and thanked them for the contributions they have already made.

He said: “Since the SLC’s re-launch last year, we have grown in both presence and membership.

“By expanding our board of directors, we can ensure that going forward, we have the strongest team possible to both guide and further develop the Society and its offering to our members and the wider conveyancing profession.”

Mr Clay said the launch of SLCQA, a second round of regional road shows complete and a new electronic member ordering platform now in place, meant there are a lot of positives to be taken from the last year.

He added: “I look forward to working alongside Michelle, Darren and the rest of the SLC board to continue the great work that has already been carried out and to achieving further successes in the year ahead.”

Darren Becks said: “I am very proud to sit on the SLC Board. In recent months, I have been particularly impressed with the SLC’s positive approach to developing a solution to the current issues surrounding lenders’ panels.

“I think that the Licensed Conveyancer faces some challenging times ahead and I hope that as a board member, I am able to make a positive contribution towards dealing with those challenges.”

Michelle Rickard added: “The Society has been very proactive over the last year and has really established itself as a major voice within the industry.

“It has made some great headway in terms of developing new solutions and building a closer relationship with the lender community.

“We have an exciting year ahead and as a new board member, I am really looking forward to playing a part in what the future holds.”
