#NatConveyWk2023 launches

National Conveyancing Week, an initiative designed to raise the profile of the conveyancing profession amongst the home moving community, launches today with a range of online and in-person activities lined up throughout the week.

In this short introductory video, Rob Hailstone (Founder and CEO of Bold Legal Group) is joined by David Opie (MD at Today’s Media) to discuss the key themes and ambitions of National Conveyancing Week 2023.

The week features some key events in the legal calendar with the Home Buying and Selling Group hosting an “Up Front Information Roadshow” on the morning of 21st March at 8 Northumberland Avenue, London

Later in the day, the venue will also host the sold-out British Conveyancing Awards 2023 wihch will also be live streamed via The British Conveyancing Awards website. Register for the live stream here.

On Wednesday 22nd March law firms are invited to open their doors for a Collaboration Coffee Morning in aid of The Conveyancing Foundation. Conveyancers are encouraged to invite estate agents, brokers and other referrers into their offices to showcase the work they do. Firms up and down the country have embraced the initiative with social media awash with videos and images of firms decorating their offices in aid of National Conveyancing Week and organising events in celebration of the industry.

Throughout the week The Conveyancing Foundation will be raising much needed funds for their DEC Turkey-Syria Earthquake Appeal. Every £20 donated enters you into a prize draw for a chance to win a Luxury Weekend Break for 2, £150 M&S Voucher, Echo Smart Speaker or 5 Individual Bottles of Champagne.

The National COnveyancing Week webiste will be updated throughout the week with links to other events being hosted throughout the week, stories from practitioners about how and why they got into conveyancing, and pictures from throughout the week.

08:50 – 09:25 – Conveyancing Foundation’s ‘Share The Love’ Campaign Lloyd Davies

Recruiting and retaining good staff is a national issue for the conveyancing industry, especially as the role of property lawyers is often viewed as stressful and undervalued. Recruiting is also time-consuming and can be expensive, and the effect of a high turnover of staff can cause service issues for clients and unsettle other members of the firm. There is increasing concern about the expectations on conveyancers when it comes to property due diligence, amplified recently with the discussions on climate change. With contributions from across the representative industry bodies, including the Conveyancing Association, Council of Property Search Organisations, Conveyancing Information Executive, Society of Licensed Conveyancers and Bold Legal Group, this discussion will address the direction of travel around property due diligence; including views on technology, accessing live data rather than snippets in time and the availability of refreshing the information, product roadmaps for the data providers, and specific issues including climate change.

Tuesday 21st March

10:00 – 12:00 – HSBG Upfront Information Roadshow Premiere – Join in person or online Chaired and hosted by Rob Hailstone and Beth Rudolf

The intention of the presentation is to identify which prescribed documents would have to be reviewed to identify the Material Information which must be provided on advertising a property. We want stakeholders (conveyancers, estate agents, mortgage brokers) in regional networks to work together to help produce the Up-Front Information to identify the material Information to be advertised on the property adverts and know where they can get hold of it to provide the right advice for a potential buyer. 16:30 – 01:00 The British Conveyancing Awards 2023

The British Conveyancing Awards returns in 2023 to highlight achievement, recognise excellence and celebrate the superheroes of the conveyancing sector. Join us At 8 Northumberland Avenue, London from 16:30 on Tuesday 21st March to witness the outstanding firms and individuals, recognised by our esteemed panel of expert judges crowned The British Conveyancing Awards winners 2023. Following the awards ceremony, there will be opportunity to network, share ideas and celebrate before a three-course dinner and entertainment.

 

Wednesday 22nd March

09:30 – 12:00 Collaboration with agents, clients, mortgage advisors, and others

Firms will open up their offices for an hour or two and offer coffee and cakes to local estate agents, IFAs, property-related businesses, introducers, referrals networks business people, and their clients. They can explain what methods and processes they have in place to ensure client satisfaction and confidentiality whilst complying with a significant amount of regulation. Collaboration, understanding, empathy and friendship- these are all the core themes of National Conveyancing Week. 14:00 – 15:00 A quick guide to conveyancing for estate agents and others – Ian Quayle

A 60-90 minute online training sessions designed to give an overview of the conveyancing process, common pitfalls and traps and advice on what can help with a smooth transaction; less stress for clients, estate agents, and conveyancers alike!

 

Thursday 23rd March

10:00 – 11:00 Practicalities of a better working relationship with Estate Agents – Rob Hailstone Panel Discussion

What can agents do (and what can they stop doing) to assist conveyancers? What can conveyancers do (and what can they stop doing) to assist agents? As the inaugural National Conveyancing Week comes to a close Rob Hailstone (Founder and CEO of Bold Legal Group) and David Opie (Managing Director of Today’s Media and publishers of Today’s Conveyancer) share why they felt it was important to launch an initiative to raise the profile of conveyancers in the home moving industry. They will share some of their own personal stories of events throughout the week and consider the lessons we can take forward into the rest of 2023 and beyond.

15:00 – 17:00 Wine’d down

Share your thoughts and experiences of the inaugural National Conveyancing Week with the Friday “Wine’d Down.” Once your completions are out of the way put your feet up, grab a glass and tell us what you have been doing to celebrate with referrers, clients and colleagues.
