Moving in time for Christmas? Put your house on the market by September 28th.

The latest Move with Us Market Review tells homeowners to put their property on the market by the 28th of September at the latest for a chance of selling by Christmas. This spines from the latest average selling times released by Move with Us, which suggest a home takes on average 88 days to sell — from putting the property on the market, right through to accepting an offer.

Those living in the North East have been recommended to put their homes on the market as early as the 9th of August, closely followed by homeowners in Wales, where it takes on average 129 days for a house to sell — meaning properties need to be on the market by 18th of August in order to sell by Christmas.

However if living in Greater London you will have longer to prepare for your move, with selling times at just 43 days — meaning home owners need not sell up until the 12th of November.

Robin King, Director at Move with Us has said that those wanting to sell their homes by the end of the year must ‘start getting prepared to sell now, particularly in the slower paced markets like the North East and Wales.’

King also commented ‘getting your home on the market by the dates we’ve calculated for each region will give home movers a much better chance of selling before Christmas arrives. This also represents a fantastic opportunity for sellers, as buyers will be looking for a quick purchase before Christmas.’
