May saw a rise in the number of sales received for registration. According to HM Land Registry data, the total saw a month-on-month uplift of 5,021.
Price Paid Data from HM Land Registry sets out the details of land and property sales across England and Wales which HMLR received for registration. During May, 83,429 sales were received for registration.
Of these, 62,086 were freehold and 11,286 were newly built.
Where the type of property was concerned:
- 18,060 were detached
- 20,897 were semi-detached
- 22,363 were terraced
- 15,846 were a flat/maisonette
- 6,263 were classed as other
During May 2018, the most expensive residential sale was for a detached property in the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea which sold for £15,750,000. The cheapest took place in Rushden, where two properties sold for £9,500.
Where commercial sales were concerned, the most expensive which took place last month was in the City of Westminster for £92,500,000. The cheapest commercial sale occurred in Stockport where a property sold for £555.
