March sees completed HMLR applications rise

The latest data from HM Land Registry shows that completed applications saw a rise last month.

However, whilst March saw a rise month-on-month – from 1,632,969 in February to 1,688,244 last month – the number of completed applications was down on the corresponding month last year by 107,812.

Of this month’s completed applications, 359,219 were to update existing titles, down from 376,546 in February.

Applications to obtain an official copy of the register, however, saw an uplift month-month, rising from 796,961 in February to 824,859.

Official searches also rose on a monthly basis, from 186,329 to 211,464 in March, with postal applications continuing to upward trend. These increased from 23,910 in February up to 26,228.

The region home to the highest number of completed applications was the South East at 384,760. Behind this was Greater London at 337,656, followed by the North West at 193,105.

Where local authority areas were concerned, Birmingham saw the greatest number of applications completed at 26,895. The City of Westminster was behind this at 24,562, with Leeds in at third place with 19,505.
