MAPD acquires Liverpool-based firm, Bermans

The Making A Positive Difference (MAPD) Group has acquired 75% of Liverpool based firm Bermans.

This is yet another purchase by MAPD as other northern firms, Kackson Lees and Broudie Jackson Canter, as well as Stoke based practice Myers and Co, have also been acquired by the group.

Although, its owners, Brian Cullen and Joanna Kingston-Davies, say they are looking to acquire others and intend to spread the company across the country. Cullen, stated:

“We see great opportunities for strong regional law firms that need the rocket fuel we can provide to take them to the next level.

We believe in sustainable growth, which means investing in people, delivering great client service, providing high-quality advice and ensuring a fair profit. Bermans has all the ingredients we look for and will make for a great addition to MAPD.”

Fergal O’Cleirigh, Bermans’ senior partner, said the purchase would provide good return to the company’s shareholders, and also fitted into the company’s vision and culture. He added:

“MAPD is the perfect partner. Its operational expertise and financial backing, allied to a deep commitment to culture and staff, will help us achieve our ambitions for Bermans.”

MAPD have said it plans to grow the commercial law firm, which specialises in asset and invoice financing, by 25% in the next three years. The partners at Bermans will retain 25% share in the company.
