Last opportunity to sign up to regional conveyancing road shows

With less than two weeks to go, the Society of Licensed Conveyancers (SLC) has announced that places for its late summer road shows are filling up fast and is urging those who are yet to secure their place to register now.
The regional road shows, which are being run in conjunction with Legal Eye, will commence on the 10th September in Dartford, followed by events in Peterborough, Sheffield and Bristol. Free for SLC members and extremely reasonably priced for other legal professionals with four CPD points on offer, attendees will be able to access a host of very relevant topical updates on issues ranging from: the future of CLC regulation; marketing and selling conveyancing services; flood proofing homes and the many complexities surrounding legal compliance, presented by compliance experts themselves, Legal Eye.
Simon Law, Chairman of the Society of Licensed Conveyancers (SLC) said: “The regional road shows have been proving popular. We have had lots of interest from both conveyancers and other legal professionals so I would encourage you to book your place now if you don’t want to miss out. These road shows are directly tailored to our profession, covering a wide range of interesting topics. By partnering with Legal Eye we hope to offer attendees the additional benefit of Legal Eye’s knowledge and expertise.”
The dates and the locations for the SLC’s September road shows:
  • Tuesday 10th September – Thistle Hotel, Dartford
  • Wednesday 11th September — Peterborough Football Club, Peterborough
  • Tuesday 17th September — Novotel, Sheffield
  • Thursday 19th September — Mercure, Bristol
The road shows will offer attendees the opportunity to secure four Continued Professional Development (CPD) points. Attendance for SLC members is free. Non-members are also invited to attend the sessions, at a cost of £75 per person (refundable for those that join the SLC at the event). Solicitors, legal executives and other legal professionals are welcome to join the Society as Associate Members and can offset the cost of the road shows against their membership.
Those interested in attending one of the regional road shows are advised to book now by visiting  emailing [email protected] or calling the SLC on 08714 237193.

Society of Licensed Conveyancers

The Society of Licensed Conveyancers (SLC) is the professional body that represents the Licensed Conveyancer profession. It exists to serve the interests of its members working constructively with the Council for Licensed Conveyancers (CLC) as well as other stakeholders such as Government Departments, industry representative bodies, consumer organisations and the media; national, local and trade.

The Society has existed from the time the Licensed Conveyancer profession was established by Act of Parliament in the 1980s and has delivered many important and valuable services to members over the years.

The SLC is focused on six key objectives:

1. Helping members to face the future with confidence

2. Providing a viable proposition for members to act on behalf of mortgage lenders as part of their panels (SLC Quality Assured is the SLC’s new solution, which is currently in the final stages of development)

3. Providing information and advice on the opportunities that the new Alternative Business Structures (ABS) provide

4. Helping members to take advantage of technology to compete for the future

5. Providing additional products and services to help members differentiate themselves to their clients and enhance their income streams in the process
