Landmark Information Group, the UK’s leading supplier of digital mapping, property and environmental risk information, has today announced the launch of Landmark Labs; a free online interactive portal that provides land, property and environmental professionals with the ability to preview and trial both new and existing datasets.
- Online portal provides access to digital land, property, environmental and mapping datasets for the industry to trial new datasets and concepts;
- Will gain insight to support land development opportunities, planning applications, environmental due diligence and more;
- First featured dataset identifies land use throughout the UK, including the location and extent of 27 different land use and land cover types.
With over 400 datasets available from Landmark Information Group and over four million data features updated every month, Landmark Labs offers the industry an insight into the extensive library that helps support a range of needs; from planning application or conveyancing due diligence, to accessing risk-based land reports, through to identifying developable land opportunities in-line with the government’s current focus on increasing house building across the UK.
Landmark Labs has replaced the highly successful digital mapping-focused portal Promap Labs, which since its launch has attracted over 3,000 users. The new Landmark Labs is an evolution of the service, providing greater access to Landmark’s extensive library of data, which is accessible from within its core products, Promap and Envirocheck. Refreshed datasets and content will be added to Landmark Labs on a regular basis, making it an ideal forum for the industry to visit frequently to preview or trial new or lesser-known datasets.
The current dataset that features on Landmark Labs is UKLand from The GeoInformation Group. This identifies land usage throughout the UK, including the location and extent of 27 different land use and land cover classes. A preview sample that covers the Reading area is available for visitors to trial and Landmark encourages all visitors to provide feedback in order to shape the future of how these datasets might be used.
Chris Stubbs, Managing Director Environment & Mapping, Landmark Information Group said, "The combination of our extensive data with our industry expertise means we support our customers in delivering access to information that not only saves time, but answers important questions they have regarding a specific location or property. By evolving the Landmark Labs portal, we are providing greater access to our extensive datasets both existing and new to ensure the industry is aware of just what data is out there to support them and their clients.
Concludes Chris Stubbs: "Ultimately, making sure you have access to the right data throughout the lifecycle of a project, at the start of the planning stage, when making a property purchase, or even as part of a wider BIM model, is vital. Plus, by digesting the feedback we receive on the portal, we can ensure that our future developments are 100% driven by what our customers – and the industry as a whole need."£
