Landmark extends partnership with top regional law societies to navigate climate change guidance

Landmark Information Group, the leading provider of property and land data, is delighted to announce its renewed partnership with top regional law societies to effectively navigate the challenges posed by climate change in the UK’s land and property sector.

With a longstanding commitment to supporting regional law societies, Landmark Information Group has been providing them with invaluable guidance and assistance for over 15 years. The group of regional law societies involved in this partnership includes Birmingham Law Society, Manchester Law Society, Leeds Law Society, Bristol Law Society, Liverpool Law Society, Devon and Somerset Law Society, Surrey Law Society, and Northamptonshire Law Society. Collectively, these eight societies represent over 23,000 solicitors across the country, all of whom are now tasked with navigating the new climate change guidance for solicitors provided by the Law Society.

Climate change has emerged as a critical issue affecting the land and property sector, with profound implications for legal professionals operating in this field. Landmark Information Group, the first property data business in the UK to make the ‘Pledge to Net Zero’, recognises the importance of supporting solicitors in understanding and adapting to the evolving landscape of environmental regulations and sustainability considerations.

Through this partnership, Landmark Information Group will offer comprehensive support to the regional law societies and their members, in the form of climate change reporting, climate change training courses, Net Zero and TCFD workshops. Moreover, the Landmark Academy also offers a special free training package to help solicitors on the path to sustainability. These initiatives will ensure that legal professionals remain up to date with the latest developments, best practices and legal frameworks related to environmental sustainability. Landmark’s extensive range of data, technology solutions and industry insights will equip solicitors with the knowledge and means needed to address environmental risks, identify sustainable opportunities and achieve compliance with emerging climate-related legislation.

Chris Loaring, Managing Director, Landmark Information (Legal), commented:

“We are delighted to strengthen our partnership with these regional law societies and support their efforts in addressing the challenges of climate change. As the land and property sector grapples with evolving environmental regulations and sustainability imperatives, it is vital that legal professionals have the necessary means and know how to navigate these changes effectively. Through our collaboration, we aim to empower solicitors across the country to play a key role in shaping a sustainable future for the UK’s land and property sector.”

Fran Eccles-Bech, Chief Executive, Manchester Law Society, commented:

“At MLS, we pride ourselves on keeping our members well informed and knowing we are supporting them with the best advice and training for each member and their law firm. Our partnership with Landmark Information means we get exactly that. Establishing a net zero journey will be daunting for many but with Landmark’s specialist training and guidance we can be sure that they will receive a balanced, collaborative approach in choosing the most suitable path for them.”

Tony McDaid, President Birmingham Law Society, added:

“The longevity of our partnership with Landmark Information Group has been built from great relationships and the understanding that by collaborating we are able to enhance our members knowledge as well as drive new practice areas.  Our trust in their expertise means, following the Law Society Guidance, we can continue to support members around climate change and sustainability for their practices with Landmark’s training and advice.”

Helen Read, Chief Executive of Bristol Law Society, remarked:

“The team at Landmark Information Group not only actively engage with our members to deliver topical, objective training content and present thought leadership but also to gain valuable insight to inform and align their product development and services; something that is vital as climate change becomes part of the legal sector for Law firms, lawyers and their clients. We value the partnership with Landmark enormously, viewing them as trusted advisors to our membership.”

Landmark Information Group’s partnership with these regional law societies exemplifies its commitment to fostering collaboration and knowledge-sharing within the legal community, ultimately driving positive change for all and sustainable practices in the land and property sector. By equipping solicitors with the necessary resources and expertise, Landmark aims to contribute to the industry’s collective efforts in mitigating the impact of climate change while ensuring the continued prosperity and resilience of the UK’s land and property market.
