Breaking News: HM Land Registry to remain in Public Sector

There has been considerable concern over whether the Land Registry will be privatised, from MPs and the Law Society alike.

The Autumn Statement has however confirmed in its release today that the Land Registry will remain in the public sector.

Subsequent to consultation, the government have concluded that the focus of HM Land Registry should be on developing a registration business more digitally driven. It decided that this would be best achieved with it remaining in the public sector.

Creating a more modernised system will maximise the economic value of the Land Registry and it is disclosed in the statement that this can be achieved in absence of any significant investment from the Exchequer.
