July sees rise in properties lodged for registration

July saw a rise in the number of properties lodged for registration. According to HM Land Registry data, the total saw a monthly increase of 1465.

Price Paid Data from HM Land Registry sets out the details of residential and commercial land and property sales in England and Wales. During July 2017, 93,474 sales were lodged for registration.

As well as the total number of lodged registrations, the data also specifies the type of property as well as the price paid.

Of those that were registered:

  • 21,2014 were detached
  • 24,117 were semi-detached
  • 24,952 were terraced
  • 16,682 were flats or maisonettes
  • 6,519 were classed as other.

Three-quarters of property sales lodged during July were freehold, a month-on-month rise of 1%. In contrast, the proportion of new-build registrations saw a monthly fall, dropping from 10% to 8.8%. Total sales also saw a decline, down from June’s 29,901 to 28,244.
