The future for conveyancing and property transfer: innovation, regulation and standards in an evolving market

Timing: Tuesday, 11th December 2012
Venue: Central London

This event is CPD certified

Guests of Honour: Anna Bradley, Chair, Council for Licensed Conveyancers; Richard Collins, Executive Director of Policy, Standards, Strategy and Research, Solicitors Regulation Authority and Malcolm Dawson, Chief Land Registrar and Chief Executive, Land Registry

Following the introduction of alternative business structures to the wider legal services market, and timed as the Solicitors Regulation Authority takes forward its Supervision and Enforcement Strategy for Conveyancing later this year, this Westminster Legal Policy Forum Keynote Seminar will provide a timely opportunity to assess the future of conveyancing as the sector undergoes both structural and regulatory reform.

Bringing together licensed conveyancers and property lawyers alongside regulators, policymakers, consumers and wider business interests, discussion will focus on the key regulatory challenges ahead for the sector, including how the industry can most effectively tackle the impact of fraud and negligence. Sessions will also be informed by the ongoing impact of the Legal Services Act 2007, and will include latest assessment on market trends – including perspectives on possible market consolidation, the future of the high street conveyancer, and prospects for greater interdisciplinary collaboration with other industries such as estate agency, property and financial services.
